The current president, Joe Biden, and the former president, Donald Trump, demonstrated a sharp contrast in priorities while both men were in New York on March 28th. President Biden, joined by former Presidents Clinton and Obama, hobnobbed with fat cats and celebrities at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan for a fundraiser extravaganza, which hauled in around $26 million dollars for President Biden’s reelection campaign. Former President Trump was attending a wake about forty minutes away in Long Island for a police officer murdered by a repeat felon who should not have been on the streets in the first place.
The Biden fundraiser featured CBS’s late night anchor Stephen Colbert hosting a chat with the three Democrat presidents whom he called “champion talkers.” This court jester for the Democratic Party joked that while in New York “not one of them is here to appear in court.” Queen Latifah, Lizzo, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, and Lea Michele entertained the audience, some of whom had paid as much as $250,000 or even $500,000 to attend the fundraiser event.
The same day that Biden supporters enjoyed themselves at the fundraiser without seeming to have a care in the world, mourners attended a wake for slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller that was held in Massapequa, Long Island. Officer Diller had been murdered in cold blood by a career criminal during a routine traffic stop in Queens, New York on March 25th.
The night of the murder NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban wrote on X that “this city lost a hero, a wife lost her husband, and a young child lost their father.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said, “It is the good guys against the bad guys and these bad guys are violent.”
In New York City and other cities across America, most often run by Democrat mayors, the bad guys are winning.
Former President Donald Trump attended the wake for Officer Diller to express his condolences and try to provide comfort to the heroic police officer’s grieving family. After leaving the wake, Mr. Trump said in an interview with the New York Post that “In life, some things just capture a moment and this captured a moment. This particular great officer, top of his class — he captured a moment. The perfect family has been so tragically altered, forever altered.”
President Biden failed in his role as the nation’s consoler-in-chief to seize the moment during his New York visit for something more worthwhile than just filling his campaign coffers. President Biden had plenty of time to go to the wake, by car or helicopter, and get back to Manhattan for his glitzy evening fundraiser. Massapequa is only a forty-minute drive from Manhattan and a twenty-five-minute drive from JFK Airport where President Biden had arrived and departed on Air Force One. But instead, President Biden was reported to have spent the afternoon before the fundraiser in his hotel room recording a podcast interview alongside former Presidents Obama and Clinton and a few actors. He did not even have the decency to publicly express his personal condolences to Officer Diller’s distraught family members on the day of his wake.
At the fundraiser, President Biden delivered his customary “democracy is at stake” mantra to rally his supporters against Mr. Trump, about whom he said, “all the things he’s doing are so old.” But there is nothing wrong with doing things “so old” if they are still the right thing to do. As former President Clinton observed in his remarks at the fundraiser, “What’s old is the United States of America.”
President Biden does not want to preserve America’s age-old core values and traditions. He is all about “fundamentally transforming the United States of America,” as his former boss Barack Obama put it during their 2008 presidential campaign.
“So old,” according to President Biden, is believing that dangerous criminals belong in jail, rather than being set free under cashless bail policies that President Biden and his left-wing progressive base have supported.
“So old,” according to President Biden, is believing in enforcing the country’s immigration laws and securing the border against millions of immigrants’ illegal entry into the country, rather than opening the border and releasing most apprehended illegal immigrants as President Biden has done.
“So old,” according to President Biden, is believing that biological males do not belong in biological females’ bathrooms and should not compete in biological females’ sports, rather than bowing to transgender activists’ anti-science demands as President Biden has done.
“So old,” according to President Biden, is believing in the traditional American values of individual merit and responsibility, rather than embracing the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” fad that is based on group identity as President Biden has done.
“So old,” according to President Biden, is believing in free speech and diversity of ideas, rather than deceptively labeling dissenting opinions that do not conform to left-wing progressive dogma as dangerous “misinformation” that must be squelched as President Biden has done.
Finally, “so old,” according to President Biden, is honoring the sacrifice of police officers who risk their lives to keep us safe, rather than snubbing a fallen police hero as President Biden did on the same day as his fundraiser extravaganza.
