Resigning is passe. It’s been done. The new thing is not to resign. No matter what. Public episode of senility? Don’t resign. Near death? Don’t resign. Criminal conviction? Don’t resign. (It’s a bipartisan problem, just ask George Santos.) Gov. Northam got away with dressing up as a klansman and then not resigning. Andy Cuomo didn’t manage to stick it out though. Biden’s fate is still unknown, but here comes Sen. Bob Menendez.
Sen. Bob Menendez is refuting reports that he’s planning to resign after he was convicted on federal bribery charges.
“I can tell you that I have not resigned nor have I spoken to any so called allies … Seems to me that there is an effort to try to force me into a statement. Anyone who knows me knows that’s the worst way to achieve a goal with me,” Menendez told CBS New York’s Christine Sloan on Wednesday.
Why should Menendez resign? There’s certainly nothing he gains from resigning. And what little leverage he still has left comes from refusing to resign. Maybe someday he can get one of those pardons in exchange for resigning. In the past there might have been talk about the good of the party or the good of the country, but that’s deader than disco. The Dem presidential nominee clearly doesn’t care about either.
Why should Bob?
The governor has called on the Senate to vote to expel Menendez if he refuses to step down. A two-thirds vote would be needed for his expulsion.
What would the smart Republican play be in that scenario? Let a less qualified and less senior replacement in while humiliating Dems by having to force the resignation of a convicted senate member. Or refuse and let the Dems suffer having to lobby a convicted criminal for votes. Either way it won’t be pretty.

There was a time when our Christian culture would not have tolerated this. Menendez can do this only because of what we have lost and must regain.
Intrepid says
In addition, Democrats are not really part of the Christian culture. They have no sense of shame.

Um……. Menendez is so guilty he is an insult to guilty people. He has not resigned because democrats have no shame, none, zero no matter what they do. So typical.

Good reason to rescind the 17th amendment. Senators were never supposed to be popularly elected. They represented the State government, not the people directly, and could be recalled at will. IMHO, it would take a lot of foreign (including out of state) money out of the senate.

I first met Menendez about 40 years ago. I had not previously known him, or anything about him. He was then a NJ state assemblyman and possibly also mayor of Union City. One who I was friendly with and who knew who and what he was, politely described him as sleazy. Over the years, when I encountered him, sleazebag was always an accurate description.
As far as supporting Israel, that only happens immediately prior to election day to get the jino vote. He’s been known to be very anti Israel when the winds of politics blow in that direction. Kind of like Biden, he’s more loyal to who fills his pockets the most. He was also known to be a regular on the Jeffrey Epstein lolita express.
He did effectively beat substantially the same type of charges years ago and went after those who prosecuted him with a vicious vendetta.

This senator was nothing out of the ordinary regarding corruption, as far as Democrat politicians go.
He was only gone after by his peers because he broke the “code of conduct” among his peers, which is to go with the flow, however the Elders like Obama and Soros decide. So when he was the only Democrat senator to oppose Obama’s Iranian Nuclear Annihilation Deal, he was not just persona non-gratta, but in the crosshairs of the totalitarian modus operandi of his leftist leaders.

The rap he beat last time didn’t include so much “pajama cash” and GOLD BARS! This time it STICKS unless the APPEALS Justices are also suddenly proud owners of “nice” pajamas!!

All convicted senators who won’t resign are equal, but some are more equal than others.

“The governor has called on the Senate to vote to expel Menendez if he refuses to step down.” Menendez represents the drop in ethics and personal conduct standards of Congress over the last 50 years. We have heard so much about the sins of Nixon. Yet, little or nothing is reported or uncovered about the vast corruption that goes on by members of Congress. Remember the divulging of the secret Congressional slush fund a few years ago? Over $13 million was paid out to female victims of sexual harassment and abuse by Congressmen. Then the story died because the news media did not want the names of the perps publicized because most of them would have been Democrats. This slush fund was taxpayer dollars!! The fact that the Senate has yet to take up the matter of expelling Menendez for his felony convictions underscores my assertion on the soiled ethics of the Congress.

Their own greed and Power comes before the law. Who holds them accountable? They are telling us they will continue to do what ought not to be done, they defy truth and honesty and complying to the law. These are the new world order people.
RS says
Remember, those who are Godless think they don’t have to be accountable for what they do. They put themelves above the law, they are arrogant and self loving.
