When Peter Collier and I launched the Freedom Center in 1988, we knew that there was a war going on in America. As former radicals, we also knew that only one side was aware that they were combatants in a war, or that its objective was to destroy “The American Empire” and establish a one-party state. These anti-American radicals set their sights on gaining full control of the Democrat Party, a goal that was achieved in 2008 with the election of a dyed-in-the-wool anti-American, anti-white, radical, raised by Communists— Barack Obama.
The evidence of this radical takeover was there all along—but most conservative organizations failed to heed it. By the 1984 Democratic Convention, elements of the radicals’ ideology were so entrenched in the Democrat Party that New York Governor and former presidential contender, Mario Cuomo, could deliver a keynote speech with sentiments like this: “We need to work as we have never done before between now and November 5th to take Congress back from Republicans, because ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, the Republicans are the real threat. They are the real threat to our women. They are the real threat to our children. They are the real threat to clean water, clean air…”
This language was the uncompromising language of war. But the Republican response to this demonizing assault, which was to grow more and more extreme over the years, was to refer to Democrats as “liberals,” as though they were tolerant and inclusive. As former radicals, Collier and I understood the malicious, treasonous intentions of the left and created the Freedom Center to warn patriots of the dangers our nation faced from within.
Guided by our understanding of the Left, we were the first conservative institution to alert Americans that their universities and school systems had been captured by radical idealogues who had no respect for American achievements and communities and were transforming these educational institutions into indoctrination and recruitment centers for an anti-American left.
We were the first conservative institution to organize Islamo-fascism teach-ins, to champion the rights of Muslim women, and to warn others about the unholy alliance between the Islamic terrorists and the American left. We managed to give speeches on these threats on 400 campuses and to expose Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) as a creation of the Hamas Nazis whose goal is to aid the terrorist enemies of the West and to bring about a second Holocaust of the Jews.
In 1999, we published Hating Whitey & Other Progressive Causes to highlight our determination to mention the unmentionable, to say the quiet thing out loud: that the wild-eyed anti-white rhetoric of the left was a racism designed to undermine faith in the American dream as a prelude to its destruction. From the outset of the George Floyd case, we exposed the hoax of the case itself, and the race war black Marxists had launched against “white supremacist” America.
As we broke these taboos and issued our warnings, the left was busily weaponizing the government and ratcheting up its hatred for everything and everyone in its way. In other words, we understood that we were asking for trouble. This didn’t deter us because by then we were veterans of many wars, including decades of battles to defend our country.
In 2019, the IRS informed us that they were conducting an investigation of the Freedom Center to see whether we were a legitimate “non-profit” deserving of the tax-deduction subsidies we had been granted 31 years before. Five years later, the I.R.S. dropped the other shoe, informing us that they had reached a “determination” that we were not a non-profit, and if we did not respond within 30 days, and persuade them they were mistaken, our tax-exemption would be revoked.
The key rule we were alleged to have violated was to have participated in a political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. In our 35 years, we have never endorsed a political candidate, nor did the IRS claim we had. Our thought crime emanated from our mission to defend free societies under attack from forces without and within.
But these facts did not deter the IRS. From the viewpoint of the government behemoth, we were guilty because we expressed the journalistic opinion in our online news site, Frontpagemag.com, that Hillary Clinton had violated U.S. espionage laws and obstructed justice by destroying 30,000 emails subpoenaed by the United States Congress, putting classified data on an unsecured home server which could be read by our enemies, and had gotten away with it with the aid of a corrupt attorney general. That the IRS views this truth-telling as an instance of illegal electioneering is clear evidence of the agency’s capture by the ideological left.
The IRS’s hypocrisy in misusing the tax laws to suppress unfavorable opinions about the left could not be clearer. In the eyes of same IRS officials the criminal, violent, and generally lawless organization, Black Lives Matter, is a “charity” that qualifies for tax-exemption even though it claims to have raised $60 million for Joe Biden’s 2020 election campaign and has a donation button for Democrats on its website.
The BLM case is not isolated. In the 2020 election cycle, Mark Zuckerberg deployed $400 million tax-exempt dollars to register voters in overwhelmingly Democrat districts and require a laundry list of reforms – use of unsolicited paper ballots, ballot harvesting, and unwatched drop boxes – all regarded by the bi-partisan Carter-Baker Reform Commission as measures to be shunned because they facilitate cheating.
The IRS is so politically weaponized that it provides tax-exempt subsidies via third party “charities” to violent anarchist organizations like Antifa, pro-Hamas terrorist organizations, and street rioters via George Soros’ massive tax-exempt, anti-American networks.
At the same time, the IRS goes out of its way to harass, hamper, and cripple patriotic non-profits like the Freedom Center, along with religious groups and others resisting the putsch from the left. This is selective prosecution and under a government that respects constitutional order would be a legal defense against such governmental attacks.
The Freedom Center is in the fifth year of a political witch hunt, conducted by a corrupt, weaponized IRS. For a non-partisan, non-profit, dependent on private voluntary contributions, being under an audit for five years is nothing short of death by a million cuts.
In the last year alone, we have had $100,000 donations from two donors of 25 years and more withheld out of fear that giving to an organization accused of violating IRS rules might jeopardize their other charities.
The Freedom Center has spent $600,000 in legal fees, but that is only the beginning of our challenge. Several large foundations, some of which had been supporting the Freedom Center since its inception, have withdrawn from supporting us because of the IRS Audit. Many of our individual donors have stopped giving, again, because of the IRS Audit. Add $600,000 in legal fees and that’s $1 million out of a $7 million budget.
The Freedom Center is a lean organization; we have a small and dedicated staff, almost no overhead, and we run on a very tight budget. Our margins are very small, we don’t have an endowment or a sizable reserve of savings like some larger organizations. So, when over a million dollars gets pulled from our budget, we are in serious trouble.
In spite of the hardships caused by the IRS audit, we have not slowed our pace in the slightest. Quite the opposite; in fact, we have expanded our programs and work.
In just the past year we have:
-
- Launched a Center podcast program, which is reaching more mainstream audiences than ever before, including younger audiences and ethnic minorities who aren’t typically exposed to conservative messaging.
-
- Frontpage Magazine has achieved all-time highs in readership over the last two years, and features some of the most prolific writers in the conservative sphere, such as Daniel Greenfield and Robert Spencer.
-
- Conducted two campus programs to confront and expose the Jew hatred and ideological capture of our universities in 2023 and continued our Stop K12 Indoctrination Campaign to halt the politicization of our public schools.
-
- Published two books and a series of eight pamphlets and reports on topics ranging from the weaponization of the IRS by the left and the phenomenon of “Election Jihad” wherein Islamist political machines are influencing state and federal elections.
-
- The Center has introduced digitized versions of our many pamphlets, which now constitute over 70% of our total pamphlet sales and have allowed us to spread our messaging further than ever before.
Our staff is composed of 13 dedicated, self-sacrificing, creative people who have been working together for 20 years. Despite their small numbers, our staff has produced widely-praised books on the crises our nation is facing that have sold almost two million copies, fought for intellectual diversity and an end to Jew hatred on hundreds of campuses, composed an encyclopedic guide to the American left, and run campaigns that have targeted the terrorist organizations that our elite universities subsidize and support.
Our dedicated staff members are dependent on the Center for their livelihoods. They have been fighting on the frontlines of the battle to save our country, informing and rallying American patriots, and taking the hits that come with defending what is right and good and opposing what is evil and wrong.
It is important to note that as of now, the Freedom Center is still a non-profit organization and that any donation you make is still 100% tax deductible. And no matter the outcome, we will continue to fight. We are working with our lawyers to appeal the IRS’s ruling. And even if it stands, we intend to fight on and continue our critical work to defend America.
To continue this work, they – we – need your help now. Please give generously to support the bright future we are confident awaits us all up ahead.

sounds like the freedom center is slated for dissolution. boy scouts of america comes to mind. if you follow the boy scouts survival strategy, by allowing pedophiles, girls, homosexuals and trans. maybe put a known communist, fascist and authoritarian on the payroll (democrat will work too). government alphabet departments are corrupt. do not expect justice, from corrupt alphabet departments. every department has been weaponized to squash all forms of resistance, justice be dammed. be thankful they have not started to gather the resistance in mass into camps for elimination. its not like it has not happened in the last 100 years. father was a ww2 vet, it is staggering how quickly mankind has forgotten the events which led to the rise of hitler and the holocaust. namely the night raids to gather resistance never to be heard from again. sound familiar? think fbi raids of jan6 attendees years after the fact. their stories are numerous and tragic. hitler named the jews as the scapegoat to eliminate all political resistance. it is a strong strategy. much how maga is the scapegoat today. unfortunately it is not going to heal, the american wound will fester even if trump wins this time around.

I have a question. When did Americans lose the desire to be free as individuals? What happened? I watched it change and still cannot understand why thinking human beings can be so obtuse and ignorant of all that is around them.
Jews I will defend to the death. Why do non Jews want to lose their freedom? Because what is attempted with the Jews will also be done to Christians and those who believe in nothing, even if they think it won’t.
If the individual is not free the collective is not free.

I have been convinced for well over a couple decades now that the real change started at the behest of a former corporate railrroad lawyer who finagled his rise to the Chief Executive back about eighteen fifty something. He strongly favoured and aided the economic war against the rural productive part of the nation, blockaded their trade (illegally) , imposing killing tariffs, madating which sources they could use….. and when they decided they’d not signed up for this and lawfully left, that former corporate railroad lawyer invaded a foreign nation, took over a forress and used it as a FOB for ending their lawful foreign trade, then staged a false flag event and used that as “justification” for full scale war. Consider how thngs went for the “losers” after the war was done: further economic and social and political mandates and sanctions, trashing what was left of their economy… then the two generals who were the most brutal and vicious were “rewarded” by being sent out to liquidate the Plains Indians who had done nothng wrong to warrant systematic destruction. Next we had the false flag “incident ” Remember the Maine, and thus launched the spanish American War.. supposedly sartig in Cuba bu eventually expanding into the Pacific…. mostly it seems to protec “western” ag and import operations. (Dole UNited Fruit, C&H, coffee,,,,)0And things proceeded apace throughout most all of the lasT century, and are worsening into this present one, all because our overlords in DeeCee The Infernal Robbing You Service is only one tool in their toolkit, but an effective one (albeit for a relaively small piece of the pie) They don’t have much of a bite on me, nor most of us. But they DO have a vicious bite when it comes to anyone rocking the rowboat. T

many events led us to this point for sure. speaking in the present day, i think it comes down to what is easy. freedom takes work and many are not willing to invest. it is much easier to just allow the government to provide the food shelter and water we all need to survive. todays government makes it more appealing by paying for electricity and internet , state parks. im sure the list gets longer every year. young and old see it and take the path of least resistance. sad for sure seeing young people panhandling or homeless. i remember the first time i saw a young person panhandling. i stopped my car and made sure he was aware of all the opportunities available for him to live a middle class life or better. with just some effort and diligently showing up. he was aware. i offered to drive him to interview. he declined like he had it under control and left the scene. saw him on the corner panhandling the next day. i really get fumed when i see old women homeless/panhandling. makes me feel like im living like mad max. i am curious so i quiz the homeless about their needs and living conditions. most are derelict and think in terms of the days needs. many will do a small job with direction. if i see a guy asleep in front of a store i ask him if he wants 5 bucks for some coffee, i show it to him in my hand. he gets right up. i tell him to pick up all this trash in front of the store put it in the can or bag and i give him five bucks. they try to do a crap job but i stand and watch and direct. takes about ten minutes. it has to be quick the attention span is short. i give him the five and point him to the coffee shop. he walks in that direction. some are hard to wake, drugs i think. this is how the path of least resistance ends. invest in yourself and make the effort, so much opportunity in our great land. we were all once children and nobody gets out alive.

My Dad grew up on a farm uin rural southeast Nevada. When he was around eleven or twelve it began to fall to his set of responsibilities to halter up their milk cow and walk her the couple miles to the neighbours to be “serviced”. . He eventually figured out what was going on. Later as a hardworking adult with family he realised the connexion between that small task foir a wee lad, and what that particular government agency was really about. He also understood the main difference.. getting the cow serviced brought the benefits of milk and a calf or two, thus enriching the family’s “estate”. No w=such benefit accrued to the family over the “service” of the Eye Are Ess.

5 years ago Donald Trump was President, so why did his IRS commissioner allow this? Why hasn’t GOP Congress investigated IRS policies subsequently? Has anyone called a hearing on this matter? Viewpoint discrimination by the IRS is illegal and unconstitutional. It would be a good scandal issue if GOP were a genuine opposition party.

I just clicked on the button to donate $100. I hope the other tens of thousands of FRM readers do likewise, which would easily get you “out of the woods” from this gangsterly, Stalinesque persecution.
I’ve admired you and your work for decades, ever since I read “Destructive Generation” when it was first published. Together, let’s keep up the fight to save our country and civilization from the gangsters and barbarians, who are now, frighteningly, not “at the gates,” but literally “inside our walls” and hold nearly all of the seats of unlimited power.

I bought, read, and own that one, too, about his upbringing as a “Red Diaper Baby: with a card-carrying Communist father and mother who were blindly loyal to The Party to the end. Thank God David finally, eventually, Saw the Light, embraced Reality, and became the courageous, valiant warrior that he’s been for many decades now.
His first collaborations with Peter Collier were their two superb books “The Rockefellers” and “The Kennedys,” both excellent, historically and factually accurate biographies of the two families. I still own my original copies of those two, too.
But for me, the real eye-opener exposing, in detail and with full documentation, the dangerous Left (although I never needed one–I was always on Our Side against them, even in high school) was “Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts about the Sixties.”
Get your hands on a copy of that early chef-d’oevre of theirs (still in print; I just checked amazon).
Years ago I brought a copy of the book to give to the then college-age children of a college classmate (and at the time, a very dear Best Friend) when I visited for a 3-day weekend at their large, rambling, 150-year-old home on Casco Bay in Maine.
That Sunday morning, as I was packing to leave for home, I saw, to my surprise, that she had silently left the book, unopened and untouched, on the dresser in my guest room, refusing even to allow her kids to open it, and maybe have their teenaged minds opened by it.
Our Best Friends — almost brother/sister — 40-year-long friendship, ended abruptly in 2016 with a snarling, knife-twisting-in-the-heart email from her calling me a “redneck racist and Nazi!” for voting for Donald Trump because, as I’d explained, I strongly agreed with his positions and policies on everything that mattered to me.
I was shocked, and had to recognize that we’d never really been close friends at all, if her loyalty to The Party meant infinitely more to her than 40 years of generous, loving friendship and the many — and often extravagant, sometimes hard-to-find — gifts I’d given her and her husband (who had been my college roommate!), and their son and daughter over the years.
Her savagely cruel email to me ended with, “GFY, Jack!” except that she actually spelled-out the words, as we Boomers (born in 1952, Class of ’74) always did without hesitation.
Domenic Pepe says
Your experience with your “Best Friends” has been repeated many many times in America since 2016.
It demonstrates that something quite horrible has happened to the mentality and demographics of about half the population. They have gone berserk.
I do not think that in all of recorded history there is one instance of a nation, society, culture, having gone berserk, ever recovered without first committing suicide.
Good people now should focus on saving oneself, family, and kindred spirits/friends.
The devil take the hindmost.

Happened to me in 1971, upon my return from “SE Asia War College.” I met for a mini-reunion with 6-8 college deferred members of my HS graduating class (’67) and discovered these previously Christian conservatives, whom I’d known all my life, were now anti-war radicals and social democrats. I asked, flat out, “WTF happened to you people? On your first day at university, did they perform a lobotomy and take out all the commonsense & knowledge of History you ever had?” We no longer agreed on anything, and they’ve spoken very little to me over the last 50 years, although they’ll eagerly spread any nasty gossip about me amongst themselves. And I’m certain they’re amazed that I’ve survived and thrived all these years without a degree and their undiagnosed mental disorder, Liberalism/Progressivism..

WHY I DON’T DONATE (even though I want to)
I am doing well and would like to donate to various campaigns and organizations who are fighting the good fight for liberty, to use what sadly has become an old fashion word.
Why?
My mother made some small donation to some political campaign, it could not be more then $25, and after that until the day she died, she was receiving what must have been about 100 email a day asking for money. Most of them had some famous conservative’s name in the subject line.
Once, I drove her out of town to visit her brother in a assistance living home, he had dementia, and when we got there, there was no place to sit in his apartment because every horizonal surface, including the edge around his bathtub, was covered with solicitations for various causes. Later, my cousin told me that when he visited his father, he would throw out all of that mail. And the next time he would come to visit him it would be the same.
WhiteHunter says
I know exactly what you’re talking about. Two years ago I responded to a fundraising direct-mail piece from “Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue” with a $74 check, an amount that, the mail-piece (filled with heartbreaking photos of weak, sick, abused, frightened donkeys) said, would cover the cost of having a qualified veterinarian or at least farrier, properly trim a suffering animal’s hooves, and then some.
I was immediately, every week and almost every day since then, flooded by fundraising mail from dozens of “animal welfare charities” (including Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, again and again, and still) asking for money–with no way, at all, for me to verify and validate their bona fides to make sure they weren’t just rip-off scams, as I can’t help suspecting many or most of them were.
Yes; fundraising organizations (and corporations like AT&T and Liberty Mutual Insurance!) do share, or sell, their mailing lists of customers and especially donors (“suckers”?) to others. Some of them, maybe, legit, and with very compelling, heart-wrenching letters and photos. Or promises of “a better deal.”
But that doesn’t deter me from making my one-time $100 donation to David Horowitz’s Freedom Center, earlier this morning, which certainly needs and deserves it.
For emails, there’s always a “Mark as Spam” button on your toolbar to click on, which will send everything else from that Sender into the Trash, unread; and a blue “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email to click on, as I do.
For fundraising junk mail delivered by the USPS, like your uncle is getting? For about $10 you can buy a rubber stamp–“RETURN TO SENDER. ADDRESSEE UNKOWN” (or how about “ADDRESSEE DECEASED”–?) and stamp every piece, unopened, and drop all of them back into a USPS mailbox. I did that once, many years ago; and the flood of them stopped, almost completely, as the mailers scrubbed their mailing lists. Try it!
But for the David Horowitz’s Freedom Center? I urge you to donate, now, either online or, better yet, by mailing a check to them, without worrying about this kind of direct-mail flood.
I don’t know if they “share,” or sell, their List (I hope not); but if they do, just use the techniques I described above. They worked for me, and didn’t deter me!

Welcome to the club! I get about 5/6 pieces of mail, plus the same number of emails every day asking for money – just because years ago, during an emergency situation, I may have send a small contribution to a worthy cause. I never even contributed to most of those who contact me, and the flow goes on even though I moved to a different address 2 years ago. I don’t even read the emails or open the enveopes anymore, they go right to the trash.
But it would be unfair to withdraw donations to a worthy cause just because of this annoying situation. My trash can is strong enough to handle the additional weight anyway.

I would think that some really deep pockets like Elon Musk and American Multi-Billionaire Republican/Conservative Jeff Yass, from Susquehanna International Group, would back up the Freedom Center and FrontpageMag.. How about Pershing Square founder and CEO hedge fund speculator Bill Ackman putting some of his billions into the Freedom Center cause.
Look at the Forbes 400 list members who are Republican/Conservatives.
How about the many billionaire members of the Walton Family coughing up some dough for Conservative causes like the Freedom Center ?
If Jeff Yass can put billions of dollars into an abomination like Tik-Toc, then surely he can afford some crumbs for the Freedom Center.
And there are many other super wealthy Republican/Conservatives who can put their vast financial resources and power where their mouth is.
I will bet that only one, or just a few multibillionaire Republican/Conservatives can take care of all the financial issues that confront Freedom Center and other honest good pro-American patriotic organizations.

Just gave $1000. I’ve followed you for 30 years and David you’ve been relentless and singularly minded in your pursuit to reveal the socialist/communist agenda.. — The IRS has fully weaponized itself. —
In 2018 they targeted my businesses and me for our successes in supporting (zoning) property rights (Against turbines and solar) locally in Michigan. After a very big win in federal court against one of the largest green (money) energy developers, my businesses were hit with four audits within six months. IRS, Michigan Department of treasury, unemployment insurance, and insurance commission. Even though my businesses had passed the previous and only IRS and Michigan audits just for years prior, we evidently became bad players in their mind. They got their pound of flesh and we knew they would be back. They were.
IRS and Michigan Department of treasury returned in 2023 for another round of audits. We were better prepared with extensive records. After seven months, the IRS issued a “no change” on our corporate 1120 filings. A big win.. Michigan Department of treasury is proceeding as slowly as they can but we have received a “no change” for the corporate tax portion of the audit. They are working on sales and tax still.
Don’t give up and keep asking for money because your organization is one of the gems available. You and your team have made a big difference. Keep on keeping on.
