Left-wing American Jews feel betrayed by the Left. A Left that remains anti-Israel even after the greatest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, and even though most Palestinians and their supporters explicitly call for the destruction of the Jewish state: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
Progressive American Jews are shocked by their fellow progressives. But the only thing that is shocking is their shock.
The Left wing has been calling for an economic boycott of Israel for decades and has labeled Israel an “apartheid” state.
The Left labels America, the most tolerant, multiethnic society in history, “systemically racist.”
The Left called for “defunding the police,” supports attorneys general who abolish bail for violent criminals, and praised demonstrations against America — including many that included vandalism and violence — for more than half a year.
The Left supports all-black dorms and all-black graduations on college campuses. The Left has almost destroyed every liberal ideal regarding race. The University of California, among many other left-wing institutions, has labeled “racist” the liberal ideal of being color-blind, and labeled “racist” the beautiful anti-racist sentiment, “there is only one race, the human race.”
The Left — specifically schools of education and teachers unions — has ruined elementary schools and high schools. And it has destroyed universities as institutions that allow open dialogue.
The Left affirms the lie that men can become women and women can become men, and it works to crush the lives and careers of anyone who denies that people can become the other sex. The Left supports the demise of women’s sports by fighting to allow any man who says he is a woman to compete in women’s sports. The Left supports putting children who say they are the other sex on hormone-blocking drugs, and supports allowing girls under the age of 21 (and sometimes under 18) who say they are boys to have their breasts surgically removed.
The Left has been waging the most successful war against free speech in American history. As a result, almost half of America’s young people say they believe in free speech but not in “hate speech,” which, of course, means they do not believe in free speech.
The Left asserts that the human fetus at any stage of development is, literally, worthless, certainly worth less than a dog, if the woman carrying it wants an abortion.
The Left has essentially destroyed mainstream journalism. Mainstream media no longer hold truth as an ideal. They promoted the lie for nearly two years that Russia colluded with the Trump presidential campaign in 2016 (many still do). They continue to promote the lie that having to present an ID when voting is “racist.”
The Left has poisoned American medicine. The American Medical Association has announced that birth certificates should no longer list the sex of a child. Medical boards threaten to suspend or even revoke the medical licenses of physicians who question the efficacy of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or prescribe hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin to patients in the early stages of COVID-19.
The Left has enthusiastically supported the America-hating and Israel-hating Black Lives Matter organization and the flag-defaming athletes who refused to stand for the national anthem.
The Left has promulgated the racist doctrine in most American schools and businesses that all whites are racist.
The Left teaches school children that they should be ashamed of their past and that their future is awful (due to carbon emissions); that capitalism is bad and socialism good.
The Left, in short, hates the West, the most decent civilization ever created, and hates America, the most decent country ever created.
The Left, for decades, has declared Zionism racist — meaning that Israel’s existence is inherently immoral — and has charged Israel with “genocide” against the Palestinians.
Yet now Jews on the Left are simply shocked that the people who hold all these contemptible positions either morally equate Hamas with Israel or actually support those who chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which is in fact a call to genocide. Genocide of the Jews.
Unlike the liberal Jew, the left-wing Jew — the professor, the columnist, the teacher — is a destructive fool. But the liberal Jew is inexcusably naive about the Left, nearly all of whose positions have nothing in common with liberalism, not to mention with the Torah.
Maybe some will repent. But don’t bet on it.

One thing to keep in mind is that the left wing Jew doesn’t have any children, so if right wing Jews can just hold out a few more decades, the problem of the Jewish left will be gone or greatly diminished.
I think we are seeing a massive rethinking of views by American Jews who would describe themselves as liberal or even progressive as they see themselves as being surrounded by their former comrades who are increasingly anti Semitic in outlook
Maybe, but there’s really no telling how an individual will react to the cognitive dissonance this is creating. I know an otherwise intelligent, liberal but not radically Left Jew who tells me that the cause of the open anti-Semitism we’ve witnessed since October 7 is Trump’s fault. He either has no idea, or can’t deal with the fact, that it’s coming from his team.

I’ve always wondered why Jews don’t like conservatives.
My answer to that question is that most, not all, conservatives are religious.
Our religion plays a huge role in our everyday life. We try to live out our faith.
This scares leftist/secular Jews.
They might have to actually confront the roots of being a Jew which means having to look and struggle with the question of God and His existence.
So the secular Jew doesn’t want any confrontation with a conservative because we might bring up the topic of God/faith/religion.

For many years the right has wondered what it takes to persuade a leftist to embrace reality. We used to say that a conservative was a liberal “mugged by reality”. David Horowitz and Ronald Reagan are examples of former leftists who were turned rightward by simple facts. So am I. But it seems that we’ve about gotten all the leftists who could be gotten. Those left behind aren’t interested in reality or facts. Their ideology is a rigid armor against all arguments. Zell Miller, the Democrat who once delivered the keynote speech to the 2004 Republican National Convention, worked to elect Republicans like Newt Gingrich, Doug Collins, and Nathan Deal. And yet he never changed his party affiliation. He claimed that in spite of everything, being a Democrat was “like a birthmark” that couldn’t be changed.
This is nonsense but it applies to just about everyone who after years of leftist riots, defunding the police, reaffirmation of segregation, putting men on women sports teams, sexual mutilation of children, and decades of the most heinous and anti-semitic attacks against Jews and Israel from the left, still refuses to change what they support with votes, money, petitions and all the rest. It’s hard to imagine that one more atrocity will be enough to convert anyone who isn’t already appalled by the left.
The overwhelming majority of leftist/liberal Jews (and African Americans) will continue to vote the way they have for generations … for their own oppression and destruction.

Thanks KH! From my computer science theory background, I look at it as hardware vs software. When kids are young their brains are flexible and able to absorb new input, but as they become adults their viewpoints become hardwired into their brains, and in some cases are almost impervious to change. When new input comes in that doesn’t fit their existing views it may cause cognitive dissonance, but doesn’t get assimilated into the existing worldview, and the info disappears.
Although your explanation makes perfect sense and is rational, I hate to think that cognitive dissonance would fail to cause person to assimilate the new information. That so many otherwise intelligent people do it will now be filed away in my “ugly truth” file.

I have noticed over the years that as the democrap party moves left, democrap voters move left simply so they can keep voting democrap. Even though this takes them into territory and positions they never would have countenanced a few years earlier. It’s sort of a slow migration into nihilism. I saw this in action with some of my own relatives where abortion was concerned.

I laugh every time a wealthy Jewish donor proclaims that he/she is pulling their financial support from their alma maters after what they’ve recently witnessed on campus. Those donors aren’t pulling their donations because they are outraged, they are pulling them because they had a come to Jesus (figuratively) moment when they suddenly realized that people (those who have been paying attention) were going to point fingers at THEM for subsidizing the seeds of hatred and violence against Jews for these last several decades. Those donors were very willing to accept what they thought was a low level of anti Semitism on college campuses vis a vis an appeasement strategy, but once the cover was blown on the depth of the animus, they decided they needed to run for cover. So, I say to all those donors, F you, you sowed the seeds and fertilized the plants of what is happening to Jews in America and you have blood on your hands.

As long as Jews account for about half the donations to the Democratic party, they are the problem and not the victim.
When people don’t stand up for honest values, integrity, lawfulness, and truth, eventually civilization becomes unlivable, we see the evidence right now. Its easy to go and hide, its harder to stand up against unfairness, evil, and propaganda, and those that hate with no rationality. Eventually the wound becomes incurable.

If only there was a “book of Wisdom” full of stories and parables and even just theories about how humans actually work, and maybe people could sit around in groups, once a week or so and rehash those stories and search for things that produce good and distance themselves from that which produces poor results. If Only There Was A Book Like That??!! I bet it would be a best seller after the invention of movable type! If only it somehow codified six or maybe seven deadly Wrongs and maybe had stories glorifying delayed gratification? Ya know, the kind of tome that puts forth the theory that caring for others may pay dividends in the future and even if not directly it might make life generally a little nicer? What surprises me is those more right leaning like Candace Owens, Jimmy Dore, Tucker Carlson who have waffled on this issue. They’re great when it comes to attacking the Left and exposing their hypocrisy.
However, when it came to the attacks on October 7th, something shifted ever so slightly.
I don’t want American troops there or anywhere else. I agree w their anti-war stances.
But.
When it comes to raping women, dragging them through the streets – cutting the babies out of pregnant women and laughing about it – putting babies in ovens – I think there is a difference between killing civilians in war and intentionally torturing, mutilating them and laughing about it on social media. I do.
To me, it’s up there with the Manson murders and the mass shootings at Newtown and Columbine. It is unacceptable barbarism.
