Planes, Trains and Little Tikes

July 13th, 2007 · Notebook ·

Little TykesI’m sure everyone has had one of these. My sister did. We had it for a while too. Until she got too big for it and I think it got given away. But my mom’s boss gave her one yesterday since her little girls are too big for it. She brought it over, but the baby was out with his daddy.

I had thought about buying one for him myself, but when I took him to toys r us to try it out, the one he got in was way to small. His legs didn’t fit. I guess that’s the newer models. The one we have is old. But he loves it. When he got home last night, I didn’t even get a hug and a “Hi Mommy”. He ran straight for the car, got in, and started zooming around the house. I do wanna get him the little gas station that can go with it. The car’s “gas tank” is gone, but I guess he could pretend. :D

We had fun trying to get him out of it when it was time to get ready to go out. When it comes to cars, Mini Buff can be very…possessive. Its kinda scary. But he has a new toy, and he loves it. I just hope he doesn’t ignore his bike now. He still needs to learn how to pedal. ;)

That cute little car is awesome, but I’m going to have to agree… Cycling must come first! TOUR DE BAMBINO!

How funny that I would read this post today!! We DO have that very car. We have a green one as well. Neither of them were bought new, and I’m pretty sure they’re old as sin. They’re definitely well loved. I have four little kids, and they fight over those two cars all day long! We went out garage saling today and found ANOTHER ONE! Woohoo! For five bucks! And my best friend is passing along hers, since her boys have outgrown it. Huzzah! Four cars for the four kids.

My kids love those cars. We don’t have one but my mother does. My son races to it and gets so mad if his sister gets there first. He’ll spend hours in it.

Oh wow, memory lane! I used to have one of those! I still fit in it until I was like 8 or 9! I remember when I turned 7 (or 8, I don’t remember) me & my friends rode around in it and we would push eachother and make it crazy fast and reckless! Good times, good times! :)

We borrowed one of these from a friend for a couple of weeks, and my kids were not happy when we returned it! Little Bro saw a picture of one in a book the other day and started crying - yelling , “My car!”

Nice post, Jenny - thanks for posting this on the Mom’s Blogging Carnival. You can see it here: http://www.gogirlfriend.com/reviews/moms-blogging-carnival-4560

And I do love these cars too. Anything that gets kids thinking and moving their bodies is good in my books. Course, being a travel editor and writer, I love, love, love toys that fires a child’s imagination for travel.

    Enjoy the fun!
