Me On Blogging

BloggingI have been blogging for years. I’ve gone from shitty little ranting diary on every blogging platform you can think of (yea I was all over the place) to what I do and have today. And I’ve grown as a blogger. I’ve figured out what works and what doesn’t. I’ve noticed what you, as the reader likes more and what you could care less about. And you know what? I’ve ignored it all and said, “Fuck it. I’ll write about everything and anything.”

Here’s the thing. Yes, I am a “mommy blogger”. Yes, this is supposed to be a blog about my life as a parent and my every day adventures as a mom with her kid. But it’s not. Supposed to be! But not. Why is that, you wonder? Well, because I don’t get out much. We don’t work right in public. My son doesn’t listen to me and my husband drives me insane when we go out. And that causes me to have nothing to really write about. Believe me, I’d love to be an awesome controversial writer like some people I know, but it hasn’t worked out for me. So what this blog has become is more of a me thing. About what I think of things, the games I play (WoW, iRO, Cafeworld, etc.), thoughts on the latest products (reviews) for mom and baby, and whatever else you find here. And it works for me. Might not work for you and it might be the reason why a lot of my readers went POOF but hey, their loss.

I know a lot of people put their blogs into a niche, but… why. Yea, it’ll make you more money and you have a target audience, but think of all the readers you’re missing out on. The ones who may not find your blog but might wanna read what you have to say and are looking for what you have. I say we break the chain. No more limiting your blogs. Mix it up!! See what happens. BE DIFFERENT!! xD

I’ll end my rant now. My rebellion is over. Back to the uniform!

As I always say, every blogger has a niche. So what if you only write about yourself and what you think? You don’t see anyone else writing about you do you? Your niche is Jennifer, and there’s nothing wrong with that! :P

I would like to take the time to congratulate you on a job well done with this blog.

I have finished my review of “Just Jennifer” and I’m happy to announce your blog will appear on Blogging Women.

A big thank you for submitting your blog to our women’s blog directory and I wish you continued success.

I am sort of like you, a little of everything. I wish tho I had a good following, or people who really like what I put out.

Amanda over at i am mommy has some truely fabulous things to say along the same lines. I think she has a series called something like “how to be a successful blogger”. But it’s really all about how she’s found a happy place for herself in the community and superstar status be dammed.

  5. First time I’ve been here. seems like you have a niche.. You are you..
    Glad I found you.

I’m a sucky writer, and I don’t really care who reads my blog, so I just write whatever. Yay for freedom :)

haha, I like the idea of mixing !
That’s what I do on my blog. I prefer to talk about everything I want. That’s funnier I think ! :)

I’m the same! I write about whatever I want. I find my posts about the Tudors really falls flat hehe but I don’t care. I know a lot of people are obsessed with getting comments and stuff but really I don’t care. I’m a writer and so I write my “niche” stuff in my novels. My blog is just for me to write any old crap I like and not have to worry about it making sense – or even being grammatically correct! ;)

    Sing it Sista!

I write about whatever the fuck I want to write about. Sometimes it pisses people off but most of the time it makes everyone laugh. Yes, they are laughing at me and my inability to get my shit together but hey, better me than everyone else, right? Sing your own song and enjoy yourself.

i think personally that the next wave of ‘mom-bloggers’ wont be niche driven. I know I’m not and I’m seeing where alot of older mom bloggers are stopping, regrouping and starting over niche less……I think we all relate better to a all-over the place site0 it’s more real.

Oh and my hubby drives me insane every time we’re out- without fail-if we go out for more than an hour. must be a male thing!

    “Mommy blogger”-Love that term Jennifer.

I had taken up the job of blogging as I am sitting idle at home and keeping a tab on my babies movements in the womb.

Ranting or not, blogging does provide some solace to the everyday discomforts because I express myself and there are none to object it. :)
