I hate noisy toys!
April 5th, 2007 · Notebook ·
I think every parent does actually. Someone wanted to get Mini Buff one of those Popper things. You know, the one you roll around and the little thing inside clicks and throws the little balls around? OMG I will shoot the first person that brings one of those into this house. As if I don’t get enough of a headache from the yelling and screaming as it is. Right now all I have to deal with is a talking phone and a singing turtle. The turtle isn’t so bad. But the phone is irritating.
We also have some of those toys that wake you up in the middle of the night when you’re sleeping. Those ones that go off on their own and scare the shit out of you and give you a heart attack. Tickle Me! Elmo. Talking dashboards (those steering wheel things…we have 3). And a talking Thomas. All of them at different times of the night decide to wake up and go, “Hey, how can we make her shit her pants tonight?” I’m gonna start sleeping with a butcher knife, because I have seen enough horror movies to know that when a toy talks in the middle of the night, something is seriously wrong!
What were the toy people thinking? Are they childless? They must be.

Holy crap, I must have been the most annoying kid of all time! I had a see and say thingie that had mummy’s, ghosts, bats, ect. on it and I’d play with it 24/7 - I’m surprised my mom didn’t strangle me, lol.

haha.. :)) yeah, having noisy toys sucks. :p

Haha–yeah, I almost put one of those on the munchkin’s birthday list and then my sanity returned and whacked me up side the head.
I think sometimes the toymakers are in league with the psychiatric profession. Oh, here, this will just drive the parents absolutely nuts and then we’ll get more money fixing them.

Denis Leary does a great bit about the “Toys that Make the Noise”. I will most likely not like the noisy toys when I have little ones of my own.

Man, I get really scared with those noisy toys in the middle of the night! But I’m ok with having to deal with them during the day….

My little brother used to have these dinosaurs that you would hear bark and growl in the middle of the night. It was horrible. I wasn’t really scared of them as I was annoyed… because the batteries running dead in them so it was kind of an awkward sort of howl. =P

Thanks for the comment.
I agree with you, noisey toys should be banned, when I was younger I had a furby and it kept going off in the night, it scared me shitless lol

I am SO with you there! My mother bought the boys for Christmas this neon orange monkey that screams when you touch it. The first time it went off the neighbor came over thinking something horrible happened! LOL I hate that thing, and she’s talking about buying another so they will each have one. Ummmm, NO!

Heh heh. I am with Amanda. When our nieces and nephews were little were always buying drums, really noisy guns, etc.
When you don’t have kids you can do that without fear of reprisals…

Noisy toys are fun.
Especially when there’s one in your trunk and you think you’re hearing voices.
Happy Easter.

Oh no, I love noisy toys.
Honestly I do. I only have one child and sometimes my computer breaks are while she is playing with her noisy toys and I can hear her. It is when everything is quiet that I get worried.
I love noisy toys, Sorry….
Happy Easter.

With the exception of a talking Care Bear, we are a house without electronic toys.

When I was little, my dad so hated toys that made noise that he would take them apart and remove the noise making parts. I had a train that was supposed to whistle, but he couldn’t abide it. He took the whistle part out and I was probably none the wiser.

Hating noisy toys was what first inspired my blog “Unplug Your Kids.” We have no TV and no loud toys. I have a whole toy receommendation page called “No Batteries Required-Toys That Don’t Make Noise!” I am happy to meet a fellow loud toy hater.
I think we are in the minority. Someone gave us one of those “hot” Tickle Me Elmos for Xmas and I was fortunately able to intercept it and give to Toys For Tots before my kids saw it. The person who gave it to us lives far away so they will never know, and neither will my kids!

I kind of like noisy toys too. If I’m going to be out in the yard for a while, I’ll find a trumpet or xylophone in the toy box and give to my five-year-old before I walk out the back door. My wife really appreciates it.
