I’m convinced I’ll never be one of those women with the massive handbags. Seriously. I have this tiny Hello Kitty bag that doesn’t fit on my shoulder. And all I have in it is a pen, a wallet, my house keys, my phone and my iPod & headphones. Then again, I don’t have a bank account because I don’t have a job, so no checkbook or bank card. And I don’t drive, so no license. Yes, my life sucks and I’m a slacker loser.
But back to the handbags. Doesn’t it hurt to have all that weight on your shoulder? I’m annoyed carrying this little piece of plastic around with just my small amount of stuff in it in my hand. I think it’s plastic. It’s not leather. I got it at Toys R’ Us actually, in the little girls dress up section. ;) It might actually be pleather. Anyway, I have other bags, but after reading about all the germs these things can pick up, I don’t really wanna use any of the others I have. ‘Cause they’re bigger. Mainly tote bags that I got off some anime web store. I don’t know. It’ll never be me though. I’m just not that kinda gal… yet.

Hi,
would you be affiliates/linkexchange?
I saw your site on HellaGorgeous Topsites ;)

I’m with you. I carry a tiny card wallet, my iPhone and my keys in one hand… Not even in a purse.
I dunno, I find bags give me some place to keep everything. Cards go into wallets, wallets & phone into a bag – I’m always losing stuff if they’re separate and its harder to misplace a giant bag than a cell pone. The latter which I have recently lost at a function that denied purses of any kind. :(
I think oversized bags are an acquired taste. I used to have a little itty bitty purse too, but then my purses started getting progressively larger. Of course, I don’t like having too much heavy stuff in there, but it’s certainly handy if I need to bring a change of clothes for any reason – it’s not heavy and very inconspicuous ;)
I have been trying to scale down to a lighter weight smaller purse (need checkbook, medicine and several other things I have to carry). Then my family gave me a purse for my birthday. It is neat colors for summer but bigger than I really wanted. Plus I absolutely need a shoulder strap, which this does not.
Pretty good post. I just came across your blog and wanted to say
that I’ve really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. Anyway
I’ll be subscribing to your blog and I hope you write again soon!
I bought a big purse once and I only used it a handful of times. It does hurt your shoulder and it’s incredibly hard to find things in it. With a lot of purses I find that I’m spending a lot of time holding it up against my shoulder because I don’t like having to hold something in my hands. Now I just have a small messenger bag that I sling across me to carry around my wallet, cell phone, and a few makeup items in. I love it because my hands are free.
I use to not be that kinda gal either! Something happened when I had my daughter. Now I can’t leave the house without a purse, a diaper bag (eventhough my daughter is out of diapers) and my daughter’s backpack. Not surprisingly, all three bags are full of essentials for my daughter!!! Snacks, sippy cup, extra clothes, baby wipes, toys, forhead thermometer, etc…
When we are young and beautiful we do not need anything but when we enter the greater years our bags become bigger. And it seems to us that we all needed and necessary.
Well I’m a guy and we don’t carry handbags but I’m sure it would drive me crazy carrying one around. I’ve never understood women’s need to carry them around, that’s what pockets are for.
Hi there.

I found THE COOLEST bag at Title 9 Sports. It goes across the body and is about as big as a trade-size paperback. I’m always hands-free with it — and I don’t have to stick it on ANY dirty floors. Best of all, it holds my wallet, keys, cell phone and inhaler and not much else.

Aww… I prefer big bags (not necessarily handbags cause they are quite hard to carry around compared to body or shoulder bags and backpacks). That’s because I carry a lot of stuff whenever I go out. I can’t leave the house without tissues (both wet and dry!), make-up kit, hand sanitizer, mirror, a hand towel, and some menthol rub. And I really can’t fit all of those in a small handbag now, can I? Yeah, it’s harder and picks up a lot of germs but I can live with that, as long as I have everything I need before leaving the house.
sent you an email
LMAO that’s hilarious. I should let my mom know that one, but you know what? You might be right.
really? no bag, just…in your hand? how do you not lose anything!
