Oct02Some Fall Cleaning

We’ve been downsizing lately on a lot of things. Especially the boy’s toys. There are just to many of them. :( He just had his fifth birthday (yay!). He got a few cars and the new Thomas movie. He also got some clothes for the wintertime from Hubby’s family. He really only ever plays with the cars and tracks that he has, so I went through his toy box and took out some of the junk (Happy Meal toys, stuff from school) and threw it out. I also took out some animals and other toys he doesn’t use and put them in a bag in the closet. Of course he was at school while I did this, otherwise I would have never heard the end of it. He also got some toys from a woman the Hubby knows. She’s been doing some cleaning too I guess cause we got all kinds of toys that her kid doesn’t play with anymore, so we went through those too. Got this year’s Halloween costume out of it. ;) The boy is gonna be batman!

Now I have to get Hubby to go through all his crap like his tools and all that shit under the sink he keeps bringing home from work. Men take up too much space, seriously… And I need to clean out my desk once again. :-? I really hate cleaning, but ever since the guy upstairs kicked the bucket, I’ve seen less and less roaches (yes, he was the cause of all the nastiness in our building) and I’d like to keep it that way. *shivers* Now to find the mosquitoes that have, I think, made themselves at home in my apartment. Every time I kill one, another one shows up. It’s pissing me off. Especially since they attack when we’re asleep, then we wake up itchy!! It should be fun…

Hey wait a second… isn’t it usually spring cleaning? Are you trying to trick us? Haha, it’s always good to downsize things. Whenever I get into one of those moods I just do it no matter what the season. :)

Throwing away stuff… eeeeeech, I can’t do it. :D I’m a keeper. I keep everything. I even have old receipts from grocery stores lying around because it feels odd to get rid of them. My closet is full of clothing that’s 2-3 sizes too big because I keep thinking I’ll just gain all the lost weight back.

Can you come do my autumn cleaning/throwing away useless stuff while I’m not home to see it? Thx. :D

  5. Jenny – How crazy it this – my wife and I have just gone through every drawer, closet, cupboard, etc. It was a a grueling experience (at least for me) – but we did it. Most of it went to the local hospice – clothing, shoes, and a lot of other things that those who are less fortunate, could make good use of.
Regarding the mosquitoes – try using citronella!

  6. Those happy meal toys drive me nuts but I am always careful when clearing out toys for the following reason.
I used to have loads of original Star Wars action figures and spaceships and when i grew out of them my mum gave them away.
Years later when at University in Manchester UK I came across a collectors shop and realised that my old toys could have made my student life more comfortable – well, for a few weeks anyway.
On another note, we may be the exeption to the rule but, and my wife will agree with me here, she is the hoarder whereas I am the tidy freak.

Well it’s weird that they’re still around ’cause it’s getting really cold where I live. They should be like…dead or hibernating…
